The staff of The Once and Future King (TO&FK) want all players to enjoy a fun, creative, and safe role-play environment. In order for this to occur, some rules must be in place. By registering with TO&FK you agree to abide by these rules. If there are any questions or concerns, please PM an admin. We will be happy to discuss them with you. These rules apply to all forums - both IC and OOC.
Respect
This should go without saying, but here it is anyway. Rule Number 1. Be respectful to your fellow members. In-game, one character being rude to another is to be expected and not taken personally. Out of game, however, respect other members' thoughts, beliefs, and opinions. If there is any disagreement between members that cannot be resolved, please PM an admin, and they will step in to help resolve the issue. But, please, let's not come to that. We're all civilized role-players, aren't we?
Rating
By order of ProBoards.com, everything on this forum must be no more than PG-13. You may not depict sexual acts or violence in any graphic detail. Please refer to the detailed RP ratings in the Rules and Requirements forum for more information.
Keeping Canon
When referring to locations, creatures, spells, or characters from the show Merlin, please stick to the script. Use the MerlinWiki pages in the Resources folder as references. Regarding the allowed character types on TOFK, please follow what is described in the Applications folder and the Resources folder. The information is drawn from the information on MerlinWiki, so they may be used as resources, too. As much as we love creativity and diversity, character abilities, incantaions and spell effects, locations, and so on need to remain consistent. If there are any questions, please refer to MerlinWiki or PM a staff member.
Number of Characters
TOFK places no limit on the number of characters allowed per player. We do request that new members begin with only one character until they get a feel for how the game works and how frequently they will be able to post. Players may have two, three, five, even ten characters or more provided they can keep up with posts. Should players be unable to do so, a staff member may ask them to retire a few characters and bring them back in when the players have more time to post again.
Additionally, for each new character we ask that players create a new account under the new character's first and last names only. Members are not allowed to use a single account for multiple characters.
Usernames: When registering, please use your character's first and last name or alias. Do not add in any other symbols such as the following: ~ * x - [] {} (). Each character created must be registered separately. That is, no two characters may share one username. (Ex. John cannot post under a profile named "Sue" or "Jim".) Each character must have its own username and avatar, and each username must be the character's name.
Avatars: Images should be no larger than 200(width) x 300(height). Images must be of the celebrity you have chosen to represent your character - that is, they must be real images of actors, authors, singers, and so on. No drawings, no anime, no CGI. Note: special characters (by request or for events) may be allowed to have alternate images. Please PM an admin for more information.
Signatures: Images should be no larger than 500(width) x 300(height).
Images within posts: They must not stretch the forum. In general they should be no wider than 500 pixels.
Posting details: There is no required word count, but we do ask that you try to get two (2) or more paragraphs in a post. We do require at least one (1) post per week. This is out of consideration for others so they are not waiting weeks for one reply. Of course we understand that life takes priority, so if you know you will not be able to post for a while, please let us know in the Leave of Absence folder.
Plotters/Trackers: These (located in the Plots folder) are not by any means required but are helpful and fun to have. Should you decide to create one, use any image, template, or format you desire as long as it fits within the established in-post image parameters as listed above. Be creative!
